Many people prefer to
make stuff (or have things made) out of deer that they
shot (I think harvested is now
politically
correct) themselves.We can provide this
service if you agree to the following:
1.Do a good job skinning the beast!
Pull
the hide off, use your knife sparingly.
There is a good article on skinning here:

here or enjoy that site - its great.
Remove excess fat and flesh as thick chunks will inhibit salt
penetration.
.
2. Salt - apply 3-4 lbls. of non
iodized salt (kosher salt in supermarkets) fold
hide in half long ways then roll it up.
Let it drain for 2 days, be careful a lot
of liquid will be drawn out by the salt.
At this point it is safe to be shipped, however for hair on tanning or
just to save on shipping cost proceed as follows. Unroll the hide and
shake
off salt. Resalt with 3-4 lbls of fresh salt and roll up. After 2 days
unroll - shake off salt and let air dry. After drying hides can be
stored
indefinitely.
2A. Alternate method would be to freeze
and send 2 day delivery.
4.Cost of tanning .Price
